Kings Island...

I had sooo much fun at Kings Island this weekend. Even though I got a bit motion sick after riding a few coasters, then spinning around like madness on a ride called 'The Monster,' and then riding the Vortex. I had to people watch for awhile to allow my 'sea-legs' to return. I was thankful that Robbie Knievel was in the park, because there were all sorts of interesting people around to watch. Honestly, some were down-right frightening! But, I guess if you want to be a 40+ year old wearing a white tank top with no bra, that's your choice. ha. I'm thankful to have such fun friends! We mastered the art of the sideway's glance, when something interesting was to be seen. Memories!

God's amazing handiwork...

On Saturday, I was at Kings Island on top of the Eiffel Tower and was so inspired by this sunset that I had to post this photo separately. The small black dot towards the center of the photo was a hot air balloon. As I was standing there, I stopped and said a little prayer of thanks to my Heavenly Father. I was so thankful to be able to see something so beautiful. God is the ultimate artist!

Josh's Senior Prom

Me with the hunk...(this was after I worked a 12 hr shift...I was really tired)
Mom and Dad with Josh...
Josh and his date...

My little brother Josh had his senior prom on Saturday at ADUC on MSU's campus. Despite the fact that campus has changed a lot since I went to prom in ADUC, it still brought back sooo many memories. I can't believe that he's a senior! CRAZY! I still remember him running around in the sailor suit Mom used to make him wear when he was a toddler. I couldn't be more proud of him though. He's going to college at MSU, to major in biology. (Following in his sister's footsteps.) When we went to pick out his tux, he allowed me to do the honors. I must say I have a way with men's clothing, because he looked hot! I teased him a bit about looking like Johnny Cash in all black, but all black is his thing and I wasn't going to change it. We had fun watching him walk in, and are all excited about his graduation in a few weeks!

Stress!

Sorry it's taken me awhile to post anything. The past few weeks have been a whirlwind of choas, and I'm glad it's behind me! First, my Gma in Pittsburgh has been in critical condition, so I've spent the last 2 weekends in the Steel City with her at the hospital. She spent a week on a vent, but She is doing 100% better, and has recently been moved to a 'normal' room. The recovery will be long and tedious but she's a fighter, and she has my huge family to keep her motivated.

Finals week was stressful without all the additional worry about Gma. I pulled a few almost-all nighters, and it paid off. Now I get to enjoy my week and a half of summer break before summer classes begin. (They start on Wednesday the 21st! UGH!) I keep telling myself that it's going to be a good summer despite the fact that I'm taking quite a few classes, (5) and I have to drive to Ashland everyday for my Chem classes. When gas climbed up to almost $4, I literally almost passed out. Who can afford that? In the end I get to reward myself by taking biochem in the fall. Whoop...bio majors really know how to live it up!

I have decided on a career move. This was a big decision, and lots of thought and prayer went into it. I've taken the position of ER's unit secretary. I love working in registration, but I need the experience of working directly with the doctors. My new manager has been amazing, and has agreed to cross-train me as a pca which is a type of RN aid. Now when I'm sitting in my future medical school interview, and I'm asked why I want to be a doctor, I will be able to back it up with experience. I'm nervous about my new responsibility, but I love a challenge. Well, I guess that's all for now. Josh's senior prom is tonight, so I will probably post more tomorrow!

An antioxidant kind of day...a new kind of love

In the midst of finals week, when the rest of campus is downing coffee (...and I've had my fair share as well...) I have noticed a fruity trend in my beverage choices. This afternoon as I was leaving for work, I grabbed one of my favorite vitamin waters...XXX acai-blueberry-pomegranate. I was first drawn to the whit on the bottle, phrases like..."made for the center of responsible hydration (aka glaceau)." Now it's trendy to drink Smart Water, but I have to tell the world...I discovered it first! ha. Anyway-tonight on a break from work I ran to the Fuzzy Duck, and decided to try the pomegranate-blueberry smoothie. I now have a love for pomegranates and blueberries. Who would ever think that caffeine addict, chocolate-loving Kristen would fall in love with pomegranates and blueberries. Maybe all those, "Let's go organic,"conversations I've been having in my mind are starting to pay off!
